Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with a strategic enterprise customer and independently design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineering team. You will own delivery end-to-end from requirements to production deployment and coach others on high-quality code.

In this role you will design cohesive AI experiences, optimize for latency and cost, mentor teammates, and accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus).
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams. Understand the business value and translate requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems. Requires 30–50% travel.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows; optimize latency, reliability, and cost.
• Own production for your workstream across the full software lifecycle; troubleshoot incidents and ensure health of AI systems.
• Mentor and uplift teammates; contribute to code reviews and share knowledge.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
