Job summary

Engineering Systems, Inc. (ESi) seeks a senior consultant to lead human factors investigations, root-cause analyses, and risk assessments for industrial and transportation incidents.

The role involves complex data modeling, cross-functional collaboration, expert testimony when needed, and business development to expand the client base. A strong background in human factors and safety engineering is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field required.
• Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, or related field preferred.
• CHFP, CPE, or CUXP desirable.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding, and staffing requirements.
• Evaluates root causes in industrial, transportation, and consumer product accidents.
• Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
• Identifies and reviews media to develop preliminary conclusions and plan further investigation.
• Conducts inspections of accident scenes and involved equipment and products.
• Locates and applies consensus safety standards, literature, and gov't regulations.
• Designs and conducts testing or develops models for performance and human factors data.
• Performs risk assessments or job safety analyses with a team.
• Prepares written reports and verbal presentations of findings.
• Prepares exhibits with visualization group to communicate concepts.
• Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
• Gives expert witness testimony at deposition or trial as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
