Job summary

Engineering Systems, Inc. (ESi) is seeking a seasoned professional to join its Biomechanics & Safety team to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and support litigation. You will contribute to testing, modeling, and clear communication of findings.

A Master’s degree in a related field is required; PhD is preferred. Five to ten years in forensic or safety consulting, with MATLAB, PsychoPy, and R experience, is desirable.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field required.
• Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, or related field preferred.
• CHFP (Certified Human Factors Professional), CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist), or CUXP (Certified User Experience Professional) desirable.
• Five to ten years work experience in a forensic or safety consulting position.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding, procedures and staffing requirements.
• Evaluates root causes in industrial, transportation, and consumer product accidents.
• Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
• Identifies and reviews media to develop preliminary conclusions and plan further investigation.
• Conducts inspections of accident scenes and machines, safety equipment, products, and other items.
• Locates, assesses pertinence of and applies safety standards, literature, and regulations.
• Designs and conducts testing and develops models for human performance data.
• Performs risk assessments or job safety analyses for various products and machines.
• Prepares written reports and verbal presentations of findings and conclusions.
• Gives expert witness testimony at deposition or trial as needed.
• Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies.
