Job summary

Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) seeks a seasoned consultant to lead forensic and safety investigations, evaluate root causes of industrial, transportation, and product failures, and prepare clear written reports.

Qualifications

• Five to ten years work experience in a forensic or safety consulting position.
• Coursework in human factors, neuropsychology, engineering, HCI, product design, occupational biomechanics, cognitive engineering and/or work physiology.
• Experience in MATLAB, PsychoPy, and R and ability to design/write original computational models and statistical analysis code.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project proposals to determine time frame, staffing, and resources.
• Evaluates root causes in industrial, transportation, and consumer-product accidents.
• Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
• Reviews media to develop preliminary conclusions and plan further investigation.
• Conducts inspections of accident scenes and involved items as needed.
• Locates and applies safety standards, literature, and regulations.
• Designs and conducts testing or models to evaluate performance and human factors data.
• Performs risk assessments for products and machines.
• Prepares written reports and presentations of findings.
