Job summary

Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) is a leading engineering and scientific investigation firm seeking senior consultants to conduct forensic and safety analyses across major incidents.

You will evaluate root causes, perform risk assessments, and prepare expert reports for litigation support in a collaborative, growth-focused setting. Ideal candidates have 5–10 years in forensic/safety consulting, a strong background in human factors or related fields, and experience with MATLAB/psychoPy/R.

Qualifications

• Must have five to ten years work experience in forensic or safety consulting.
• Academic coursework or certification in human factors, neuropsychology, engineering, HCI, product design, biomechanics, cognitive engineering or work physiology.
• Experience designing/writing computational models of human performance and statistical analysis code is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review proposals to determine time frame, funding, procedures and staffing.
• Evaluate root causes in industrial, transportation, and consumer product accidents.
• Provide technical advice and resolve problems with project personnel.
• Develop preliminary conclusions from media and plan further investigation.
• Conduct inspections of accident scenes and equipment as needed.
• Apply safety standards, literature, test data, and regulations.
• Design/conduct testing or models for machine performance and human factors data.
• Perform risk assessments for products and industrial machinery.
• Prepare written reports and verbal presentations of findings and conclusions.
• Prepare exhibits with visualization group to communicate engineering concepts.
• Identify potential clients with Business Development; support client-building strategies.
• Gives expert witness testimony at deposition or trial as needed.

Education

Master's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field

Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Experimental or Cognitive Psychology, or related field

CHFP, CPE, or CUXP desirable
