Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a capable Cafeteria Supervisor to oversee inmate food service employees, train staff, and ensure daily operations meet health and safety standards. You will manage weekly orders, prepare work sheets, and coordinate with health inspectors.

Role requires prior food service supervision, ServSafe certification (or commitment to obtain within six months), and completion of required training within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience required.
• Must be certified as ServSafe manager or attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must complete SCDC Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory courses within eighteen months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs cooks, bakers, kitchen and dining staff in all duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria as officer.
• Resolves problems with inmate representative committee.
• Ensures accurate weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepares cook’s work sheets per SCDC master menu and keeps 5-year records.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Oversees maintenance/repairs of cafeteria equipment.
