Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Corrections is seeking a cafeteria supervisor to oversee inmate food service operations, hire and train cooks, kitchen and dining staff, and supervise daily duties.

The role requires related food service experience, and certification as a ServSafe manager or the commitment to attain it within six months. Supervisory training via SCDC is required within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience is required.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking is required.
• Must be certified as a ServSafe manager or attain certification within six months of employment.
• Must be certified by SCDC Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within eighteen months of employment.
• Must complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties across kitchen and dining areas.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria as an officer.
• Coordinates with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Ensures accurate preparation of all food orders weekly and deliveries.
