Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This full-time role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting response letters, and negotiating with requesters and agencies.

Ideal candidates will have experience with FOIA rules and exemptions (b4, b5, b6), familiarity with FOIA tools like FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease, and the ability to work independently. A government security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review program records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information.
• Three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Active security clearance preferred.
• Prior federal government experience valued.
