Job summary

CGS seeks a Senior FOIA Analyst to join our IT-support team on a federal contract. You will process FOIA requests, draft correspondence, and negotiate with requesters and agency staff to determine release scope.

The role requires three years of FOIA experience, knowledge of exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6), and the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly. Security clearance is required or obtainable. Experience with FOIA tools like FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease is a plus.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Experience redacting records with sensitive information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters and staff.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not reveal exempt information.
