Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to support the legal mission of a large federal agency in Detroit. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting responses, and coordinating negotiations with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have extensive FOIA knowledge, experience with FOIA tools, and the ability to work independently while communicating clearly with diverse teams. This full-time position offers opportunities for growth within a government contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions (b(4), b(5), b(6)).
• Experience redacting records with sensitive information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.
• Experience with FOIA tools such as FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease is valued.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new FOIA requests.
• Intake requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter data in FOIA tracking system.
• Draft FOIA response letters and correspondence.
• Negotiate with requesters and FOIA staff when needed.
• Coordinate document searches and identify duplicate records.
• Review records for responsiveness and exemptions before release.
