Job summary

CGS is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting correspondence, and negotiating with requesters, while coordinating with agencies and contractors.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft FOIA response letters and other correspondence.
• Communicate and negotiate with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Liaise with requesters and other agencies regarding records.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and determine release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not disclose exempt information.
