Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to support a major federal agency's legal mission. You will process FOIA requests, draft correspondence, and negotiate with requesters and staff. The role emphasizes independent work and clear communication.

The team values technical proficiency in FOIA workflows and familiarity with FOIA tools like FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease. A government security clearance is preferred or eligible.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules, including exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets or confidential commercial information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Liaise with requesters and other agencies regarding complex records.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not reveal exempt information.
