Job summary

CGS seeks a Senior FOIA Analyst to support a federal agency, handling FOIA requests from intake to final correspondence. You will engage with requesters, NGOs, and agency staff, negotiating disclosures and ensuring exemptions are properly applied.

Strong data management and written communication are essential. This mid‑level role requires three years of FOIA experience, familiarity with FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease, and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Knowledge of FOIA exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake requests and prepare FOIA folders; enter data in tracking system.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence; initiate negotiations with requesters and stakeholders.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and determine release determinations.
• Ensure released materials avoid exempt information.
