Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Senior FOIA Analyst to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting correspondence, and negotiating with requesters and stakeholders while ensuring proper exemptions are applied.

The position requires experience with FOIA rules, the ability to read and write effectively in English, and the potential to obtain a government security clearance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of FOIA processing experience.
• Knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions (b4, b5, b6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate negotiations with requesters, staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as liaison with requesters and other agencies as needed.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure releases exclude exempt information.
