Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Senior FOIA Analyst to join the Information Technology department, supporting a large federal agency. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting letters, and negotiating releases with requesters and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has at least three years of FOIA experience, strong exemption knowledge, and the ability to obtain a government security clearance. CGS emphasizes growth opportunities and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience processing FOIA requests.
• Experience applying exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6) to records.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors
• Serve as a liaison with requesters, and on rare occasions, other agencies
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate records
• Review program records for responsiveness and offer release determinations
• Ensure released materials do not contain information exempted under the applicable exemptions
