Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida seeks an experienced engineer to lead design, analysis, procurement, installation, and testing of the helium subsystem for a Lunar Vehicle. The role involves valves, bottles, sensors, piping, and fluids equipment, with supplier coordination and project planning for sub-assemblies.

You will work with the G&T team on the Transfer Stage Vehicle at the Rocket Park Facility, applying fluid and thermal analyses and hands-on testing to ensure safe, reliable spaceflight hardware.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in the design of aerospace fluid or mechanical systems.
  • Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience with gas systems
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience performing flow and pressure calculations as well as structural and thermal analysis of fluid systems.
  • Proven understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, and pressurized hardware.
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
  • Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems (tube stock, fittings, connections, fasteners, welding, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communications skills

Responsibilities

  • Fluids sub-assembly design and development, including developing specification and procurement of components, designing parts and assemblies in CAD (Creo preferred), performing trade studies, and analysis of test data. Interpreting and generating Piping and instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD.
  • Design and/or create specifications for fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pressure vessels, and instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain interface definitions between fluid systems and other vehicle subsystems.
  • Design and analyze custom components for fluid, thermal, and structural applications.
  • Perform component verification of internally and externally sourced components to company standards.
