Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an engineer to lead the design, development, manufacture, and testing of fluid systems for the 4-Engine second stage of the New Glenn rocket. You will engage in conceptual design, requirements, thermo-fluid modeling, and test activities.

You will support ground testing, test readiness, and upgrades to test stands, driving reliability and quality while interfacing with multiple teams in a hands-on environment on-site in Van Horn, TX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems.
  • Experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design.
  • Experience with aerospace fluid systems components and hardware.
  • Solid understanding of valves, tubing, pressurized hardware, seals, fittings.
  • Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration, and quality control of tubes/piping and welded hardware.
  • Working knowledge of material properties and treatments.
  • Experience diagnosing and fixing fluids hardware.
  • Ability to use test instrumentation and control components.
  • Experience with production or qualification testing.
  • Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Design fluid component hardware to meet cost, performance, and schedule constraints.
  • Design and route complex fluid subsystems (pressurization, pneumatics, propellant utilization).
  • Create and own development, acceptance, and qualification test activities for hardware.
  • Work with fluid components (valves, regulators, pressure vessels, instrumentation).
  • Coordinate with other groups to ensure systems work together and manage risk.
  • Perform CAD modeling and FEA analysis; adhere to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Coordinate test readiness, fixturing design, materials procurement, and test setup.
  • Work independently to develop solutions and improvements.
