Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to lead design, development, and testing of rocket fluid systems for the 4-Engine second stage of the New Glenn vehicle. You will work on high-pressure, cryogenic hardware from concept through qualification, interfacing with multiple teams and ensuring test readiness and documentation.

The role requires collaboration in a safety-focused environment and on-site work in Van Horne, TX, with relocation and travel up to 30% expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems.
  • Experience with spacecraft or launch vehicle fluid system component design.
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles in the detail design of aerospace or equivalent type fluid systems and components.
  • Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, pressurized hardware, seals, and fittings.
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping, machined components, and welded hardware.
  • Working knowledge of material properties and treatments.
  • Experience diagnosing and fixing fluids hardware.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain professional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Design fluid component hardware to meet cost, performance, and schedule constraints.
  • Design and route complex fluid subsystems (pressurization, pneumatics, propellant utilization).
  • Create and own development, acceptance, and qualification test activities for hardware.
  • Work with fluid components (valves, pneumatic valves, regulators, pressure vessels).
  • Collaborate with other groups to ensure systems work together and manage risk.
  • Apply project management involving supplier management, scheduling, and production interfacing.
  • Utilize 3D CAD (Creo) and FEA (ANSYS) for designs and analyses.
  • Prepare designs and analyses reports per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
  • Coordinate test readiness, fixturing design, procurement, and instrumentation.
  • Work independently to develop solution approaches.
