Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling in Columbus, OH is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance staff and ensure a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet. You will hire, train, coach, and evaluate staff; manage budget, analyze trends, and maintain preventive maintenance programs to meet regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of management experience, hands-on diesel maintenance, and knowledge of OSHA/DOT rules.

Qualifications

• 3 - 5 years of previous management experience.
• 3 - 5 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and related components preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT rules and regulations.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Manages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance managing, disciplining, and authorizing overtime ensuring all work is performed safely and in compliance with regulations.
• Regularly communicates with operations regarding fleet status and equipment.
• Controls maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing; works with controller on budget.
• Analyzes trends in road calls and equipment failures; implements preventative procedures to reduce issues.
• Maintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency.
• Trains and directs employees to improve shop productivity.
