Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced embedded firmware leader to architect, develop, and deliver firmware for custom DBF ASICs in a high‑stakes space environment.

You will own firmware across the silicon lifecycle, from architecture through production testing and manufacturing support, partnering with ASIC, RF, and platform software teams to ensure robust delivery and traceable quality. This role demands deep technical expertise and strong mentorship of engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 10+ years of embedded firmware or hardware/software development experience.
• Strong C and bare‑metal firmware in resource constrained environments.
• Experience delivering firmware for complex ASICs/SoCs or related hardware.
• Understanding of embedded architectures, memory systems, and register programming.
• Ability to define interfaces and work with ASIC/FPGA teams.
• Proven firmware verification strategies and automated validation.
• Experience with pre‑silicon and post‑silicon bring‑up.
• Ability to independently own complex firmware programs and meet milestones.
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of embedded firmware for DBF ASICs.
• Develop ROM code and runtime firmware for DBF ASICs with calibration and support features.
• Specify hardware/software interfaces and initialization sequences.
• Create and execute firmware verification, test plans, and regression suites.
• Drive pre‑silicon firmware work using simulations, emulation, and FPGA prototyping.
• Lead post‑silicon bring‑up, debugging, and validation across teams.
• Own end‑to‑end firmware delivery to silicon validation and manufacturing.
