Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, implement, and verify embedded software for mission-critical spaceflight systems, closely collaborating with avionics hardware engineers. The role is hardware-heavy, requiring reading datasheets, understanding registers, and hands-on lab debugging.

You will work on BSPs, bare-metal/OS-level software, and be involved in HW/SW partitioning, benchmarking, and leveraging HW accelerators in modern SoCs.

Qualifications

• BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in embedded software.
• Strong C/C++/Rust with Linux scripting skills.
• Strong debugging using HW/SW tools (GDB, XSDB, GRMON, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer, Wireshark).
• Solid computer architecture knowledge (memory buses, DMA, caches).
• Experience with Git version control.

Responsibilities

• Develop BSP software for new hardware and drivers.
• Bare-metal or OS-level programming for hardware init and control.
• Hands-on debugging with avionics spaceflight hardware and lab tools.
• Design reviews and HW/SW partitioning discussions.
• Benchmark analysis and deployment of benchmarking code.
• Bring up HW accelerators in SoC (encoders/decoders/ISPs).
• Scripting, Linux development, and work with development kits.
