Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety systems for utility-scale energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects. You will ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, and client standards from concept through commissioning, while coordinating with AHJs and insurers.

The role is fully remote with occasional travel up to 25% and requires 10+ years in fire protection engineering, a bachelor’s degree, and PE preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience in energy infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license preferred; experience with AHJs and regulatory approvals.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 standards.
• Ability to manage multiple consultants and cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME guidance on fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees and interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Oversee project-level fire protection for BESS and related systems, including budgets.
• Collaborate with electrical and SCADA teams to ensure design consistency.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
• Lead owner engagements and provide technical training as needed.
