Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead full-service fire protection engineering and life safety consulting projects for private and public clients, including DoD and federal facilities. The role involves collaboration with a RevIt team, code analysis, and development of contract documents.

Willingness to travel up to 10% is required. The candidate should have an ABET-accredited degree in Fire Protection Engineering and a PE license, with 10–20 years of experience in fire

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or ABET-accredited equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10–20 years of experience in fire protection systems and building/fire code consultation.
• Experience with fire alarm and suppression system contract documents.
• Ability to lead multi-discipline project teams and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection design and life safety consulting projects and collaborate with RevIt design team.
• Provide life safety analysis with code-based reports and plans.
• Develop technical documentation including narratives, memos, drawings, and specs.
• Manage projects and coordinate across multi-discipline teams.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers on code and standards consulting.
• Identify hazards and mitigation techniques for fire protection/life safety.
• Support business development and proposal activities for Fire Protection & Life Safety.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers; contribute to R&D.
• Perform peer reviews and QA/QC of design documents.
• Participate in construction administration including RFIs and submittals; perform punch walks.
• Serve as Engineer of Record where needed.
