Job summary

GHD is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Fire and Life Safety team in the United States. The role supports a range of projects from code consulting to system design and evaluation for diverse clients, with a hybrid work model emphasizing in-office collaboration three days per week.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, may have EIT preference, and bring 0–2 years of experience with NFPA standards and fire modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NFPA Life Safety Code requirements for new construction and modifications
• Exposure to fire modeling tools (e.g., FDS, CONTAM, Pathfinder, CFAST)
• Experience supporting design of fire protection and life-safety systems

Responsibilities

• Performing building/fire code consultation
• Developing contract documents for fire alarm, fire protection and fire suppression systems (including Special Suppression Systems)
• Designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, and special hazard systems
• Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction throughout project delivery
• Conducting site investigations, construction phase services, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems
