Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design comprehensive fire protection systems and lead life safety analyses on federal and commercial projects. You will ensure code compliance, coordinate with sales on proposals, and mentor junior staff.

The role supports hybrid work arrangements from multiple US offices and requires travel as needed to sites and clients, contributing to resilient, safe environments in communities we serve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire protection designs including water supply and hydraulic analyses.
• Act as QFPE for federal projects, providing life safety and fire protection analysis.
• Review designs for NFPA, UFC and local regulations compliance.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs and review proposals for regulatory adherence.
• Mentor junior staff and supervise engineers on project work.
