Job summary

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire protection design from schematic design through construction administration across Federal, K-12, Healthcare, Higher Education, and other sectors. You will collaborate with the mechanical engineering team to develop drawings and perform calculations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering.
• 7+ years of experience designing and analyzing fire protection systems in the built environment.
• Active Fire Protection Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.
• Experience with both new construction and renovation/retrofit of fire protection systems.
• Strong knowledge of IBC, IFC, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Excellent verbal, written, and organizational communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire protection engineering teams across multiple regions.
• Manage planning, execution, and delivery of fire protection design services firmwide.
• Develop scopes of work, budgets, proposals, and design strategies.
• Prepare and review fire and life safety analyses and code compliance reviews.
• Oversee production of construction documents, reports, specs, and plan reviews.
• Coordinate with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and vendors.
• Lead construction administration activities including submittals and site observations.
• Support business development through client relationships and proposals.
