Job summary

Exp Federal is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our Chantilly, VA design team. You will collaborate with architects and engineers to develop comprehensive fire protection and life-safety design packages for government projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Fire Protection, an FPE license, 10+ years in the A&E industry, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to obtain a security clearance. Revit/AutoCAD and knowledge of relevant codes are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection or related field from an accredited university.
• Fire Protection Engineering License (FPE) required.
• 10+ years of Fire Protection Engineering experience in the A&E industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of Building and Life Safety Codes.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architect and engineers to develop comprehensive fire protection and life safety design packages.
• Fire alarm and mass notification system design.
• Fire suppression system design including wet & dry sprinklers, pre-action, foam, clean agent, standpipe, and fire pumps.
• Smoke control system and stairwell pressurization design.
• Building code and life safety code analysis.
• Investigate existing water supply utility and conduct hydrant flow test.
• Travel required (CONUS & OCONUS).
