Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead multi-discipline design on complex projects, delivering comprehensive fire protection packages including suppression, alarms, smoke management, and life safety.

You will supervise calculations, code analyses, construction administration, and client reporting, build client relationships, pursue new opportunities, and ensure revenue and satisfaction goals are met.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited BS or MS in fire protection engineering or related field.
Minimum 7 years of related design experience; MS may substitute for 1 year.
Strong written and verbal communication; analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of hydraulic calculation software, AutoCAD or Revit, Excel and Word.
Ability to obtain and maintain access to facilities/data including DOE, aerospace, military, pharma, labs.
NICET certification and experience with military standards preferred.
PE license required.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, specification, and multi-discipline coordination of fire protection systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, foam) and fire alarm systems.
Oversee hydro-statistics calculations, including hydraulic analysis for fire water supply/demand and related calculations.
Lead building life-safety analyses: area/height limits, construction types, openings, egress, smoke management.
Manage construction administration: field coordination, review of shop drawings, inspections, testing.
Prepare and present technical reports and client presentations.
