Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Fire Protection Engineer to assist on multi-discipline projects, focusing on fire suppression, alarm, smoke management and life-safety systems.

You will participate in design, calculations, code compliance, and field coordination, supporting project delivery from Fort Worth and Dallas sites. The role targets candidates with a related degree, internships, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of building and NFPA codes a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, coordination of wet/dry pipe, deluge, and foam/water systems.
• Support hydraulic analyses and other fire protection calculations.
• Contribute to life-safety and egress assessments and code compliance.
• Support construction administration, shop drawing reviews, and field inspections.
• Assist site evaluations and documentation of existing systems.
• Contribute to project budgets and cost estimates.
