Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Minneapolis/St Paul area office seeks a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead multi-discipline design efforts for fire protection systems on complex projects. You will oversee life safety evaluations, construction administration, and client communications, with travel to client sites as needed.

The role requires a PE license, ABET-accredited degree, and minimum seven years of design experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit, hydraulic software, Excel, and Word is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in fire protection engineering or related field from ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum 7 years of related design experience; master's may substitute one year.
• P.E. license required; NICET certification and military standards experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification, and multi-discipline coordination of fire protection systems (wet/dry/foam suppression, alarms).
• Perform hydraulic calculations for fire water supply and demand; battery and voltage drop calculations.
