Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Sr. Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer in Atlanta, GA, with multiple relocation options to Nashville, Orlando, Miami, or Charlotte.

You will lead fire protection and life safety design, perform analyses, coordinate with authorities, and mentor staff. The role requires a BS in Fire Protection Engineering or related field, 5+ years of consulting experience, proficiency in REVIT/AutoCAD, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering degree.
• 5+ years of fire protection and life safety consulting experience.
• Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
• REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements per ICC and NFPA.
• Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
• Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
• Produce fire safety strategy documents to inform the design process.
• Design fire protection and life safety systems (sprinklers, detection, alarm, smoke management, egress).
• Carry out fire engineering calculations including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis.
• Assist in commissioning of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Interface with clients and organize in-house resources.
• Follow QA review processes for project documentation.
• Develop project proposals and budgets.
• Manage project finances.
• Mentor junior staff.
• Prepare technical reports/specifications.
• Participate in department initiatives.
• Contribute to business development.
