Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Consultant - Fire and Life Safety Engineer for our Atlanta, GA office with consideration for other locations. The role focuses on designing and evaluating fire protection and life safety systems for building projects across public and private sectors.

You will interpret codes (ICC, NFPA, IBC, NFPA 101), review drawings, and produce fire safety strategy documents, while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related engineering degree.
• 5+ years of fire protection and life safety consulting experience.
• Experience in fire protection engineering design applications.
• REVIT and AutoCAD proficiency.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret building code, life safety, and fire code requirements.
• Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
• Design of fire protection and life safety systems including automatic sprinkler, fire alarm, mass notification, smoke control, and egress systems.
• Carry out fire engineering calculations including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis.
• Assist in commissioning of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Directly interfacing with the client.
• Developing project proposals and budgets.
• Mentoring junior staff.
