Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Systems Technician to lead programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of our fire alarm solutions. You will work closely with sales, field project teams, and clients to ensure sound design and on-schedule execution.

The role requires hands-on expertise with NFPA standards, strong communication, and the ability to manage complex installations while mentoring junior technicians. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience as a fire alarm tech.
• NICET 1 required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Independent ability to program the manufacturer's advanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems using a laptop.
• Demonstratable knowledge of fire alarm control unit and field equipment termination.
• Ability to read and understand a smoke report and program all requirements related to a smoke control system.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings for installation and programming purposes.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.

Responsibilities

• Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
• Interact with AHJs for testing and resolution of any minor issues related to a fire alarm system final test.
• Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
• Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
• Responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
• Program and commission complex fire alarm systems leading to final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain proper use and how to respond to any system signals.
• Manage onsite projects including their safety, quality, and performance.
• Review and understand smoke reports and program all requirements related to a smoke control system.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.
• Train and develop other service technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.
• Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
