Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is looking for an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Systems Technician to program, commission, and troubleshoot complex fire alarm systems. The role requires coordinating with sales, engineering, and project teams to ensure smooth installation and commissioning, with emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to train junior technicians while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience programming and commissioning fire alarm systems.
• Ability to coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales teams.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Knowledge of NFPA standards for testing and documentation.
• Willingness to train junior technicians.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
• Program and commission complex fire alarm systems leading to final acceptance by customers and AHJs.
• Interact with AHJs for testing and resolution of any minor issues related to a fire alarm system final test.
• Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
• Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
• Deliver projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
• Program systems via laptop computers.
• Oversee project and vehicle inventory.
• Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain proper use and how to respond to any system signals.
• Manage onsite projects including their safety, quality, and performance.
• Review and understand smoke reports and program all requirements related to a smoke control system.
• Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.
• Train and develop other service technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.
• Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
• Determine placement of audible and visual notification and detection systems or components while in the field.
