Job summary

Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Senior Fire Alarm Systems Technician in Latham, NY. You will program, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm solutions while coordinating with sales, engineering, and project teams to ensure successful installations and AHJ acceptance.

Requirements include five years in fire-life safety, NFPA expertise, and NICET certification. Competitive hourly pay with benefits and potential travel are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of five years in a fire-life safety technician role.
• Advanced knowledge of NFPA 72 and related codes.
• Ability to read fire system design drawings.
• Ability to program and commission systems using a laptop.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts with engineering, PM, and sales for project success.
• Produce field surveys and daily activity logs.
• Program and commission complex fire alarm systems.
• Interact with AHJs for testing and issue resolution.
• Prepare commissioning and inspection reports per NFPA.
• Train and mentor other service technicians.
• Manage job scheduling, safety, and on-site quality.
• Review smoke reports and program smoke control requirements.
• Occasional travel as needed.
