Job summary

SciensBuilding Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Systems Technician in New York to program, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems. You will work with sales, project teams, and clients to ensure sound design and successful installation and commissioning, while maintaining safety and quality on every project.

The role requires advanced NFPA 72 knowledge, NICET II or higher certification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of five (5) years in a fire-life safety technician role.
• Advanced understanding of fire alarm circuit integrity and troubleshooting.
• Independent ability to program advanced system platforms using a laptop.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fire alarm control units and field termination.
• Ability to interpret smoke reports and program smoke control requirements.
• NICET II or higher certification is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Review system layouts and coordinate with engineering, project management, and sales for successful execution.
• Produce field surveys and daily project logs.
• Program and commission complex fire alarm systems up to final AHJ acceptance.
• Interact with AHJs for testing and issue resolution.
• Produce commissioning and inspection reports per NFPA standards.
• Deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Program systems via laptop and manage job progress.
• Oversee inventory and provide guidance to other technicians.
• Train and develop staff on equipment and policies.
