Job summary

Potomac, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, seeks a hands-on Financial Controller to build and own the financial infrastructure of a scaling, multi-entity business. You’ll design the chart of accounts, own the close process, and implement systems and controls that enable confident growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting/controllership across multi-entity environments.
• Deep GAAP knowledge including revenue recognition, accruals, and consolidations.
• Experience designing or redesigning a chart of accounts.
• Strong working knowledge of Ramp, Sage, or comparable finance stacks.
• Proven ability to build AP/AR and reconciliations from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities with GAAP compliance.
• Design and maintain a scalable chart of accounts for multi-entity reporting.
• Manage AP/AR processes, vendor/customer workflows, aging, and collections.
• Own reconciliations and build controls to catch discrepancies early.
• Partner on financial reporting, entity structuring, intercompany transactions.
• Automate manual accounting with APIs, scripts, and workflow automation.
• Prepare for audits and banking relationships; support public-company readiness.
