About the Role:

We are seeking a sharp and driven Controller/Finance Manager to join our team in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations
• Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
• Manage the financial reporting process, including budgeting, forecasting, benefits maintenance package, government surveys, and variance analysis.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment.
• Ensure accurate and timely billing and invoicing.
• Serve as a lead player in the month-end and year-end close processes (qtr. review and YE full audit), including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance financial controls and efficiency.
• Provide leadership and collaborate with the finance team.
• Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
• Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling
• Proven ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and multi-entity financials
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders
