Job summary

Society of Defense Financial Management seeks a CPA-led Controller to build robust financial operations in a private equity-backed environment. You will own the monthly close, multi-entity consolidation, internal controls, and the Dynamics 365 Business Central migration.

This builder role focuses on technical judgment, process improvement, and leadership development toward a future CFO role. You will partner with the CFO and auditors to deliver accurate, timely financial statements.

Qualifications

• CPA license (active or inactive accepted).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Deep technical command of GAAP and a real interest in the craft of accounting.
• Meticulous attention to detail and willingness to work hands-on through legacy issues.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
• Clear communication and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close, multi-entity consolidation, internal controls, and the accounting side of the Business Central migration.
• Direct the general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations so every balance is supported.
• Oversee intercompany transactions and multi-entity consolidation, including international entities.
• Write and maintain accounting policies and procedures to make the close repeatable.
