Qualifications

This Senior Financial Aid Specialist supports the Financial Aid function at Herzing University with policy, procedure, technology, and process optimization needs. This role requires high attention to detail and technical proficiency. The Senior Specialist also needs the ability to generate innovative ideas. The Senior Specialist serves on the Financial Aid Compliance Team within the Home Office division of Financial Aid, reporting to the Director of Financial Aid - Compliance.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ Years of Title IV administration experience preferred. Minimum 1 year of related experience required.
  • Experience with automated systems and processes preferred.
  • Experience with policy, procedure, and data system development using automation preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations related to financial aid eligibility and processing preferred.

Pay: Compensation is determined based on qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan with company match. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform regular internal audits of Federal, State, military, and institutional funding programs, and partner with the Director of Training and Development and the Director of Financial Aid - Compliance on staff training opportunities.
  • Analyze Financial Aid processes and recommend streamlining through technology, systems, and reporting improvements.
  • Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) for system upgrades by designing test plans, documenting test cases, and executing end-user testing for software release approval.
  • Collaborate with campus Financial Aid leadership on FWS budget utilization, hiring, and resource management to support staffing levels and provide gap funding to students with need.
  • Maintain the FWS Tracker and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Configure Financial Aid software for award year, fund, and document setup to ensure system accuracy.
  • Support Financial Aid staff across campuses with troubleshooting, reviewing student files, and policy research.
  • Commit to continuous improvement in process efficiency, accuracy, student satisfaction, and innovation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Remain stationary most of the time.
  • Occasionally move around the work location.

  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
