Job summary

Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking a Finance Officer Senior within ITS to ensure accurate financial processing and reporting. You will develop dashboards, provide guidance to stakeholders, and support budgeting and financial transactions across the department.

The role requires experience with financial systems, data visualization, and strong collaboration with internal and external partners to drive timely, informed decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in information systems, financial/operational systems, or governmental budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the processing, review, and reconciliation of financial and accounting documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Monitors departmental expenditures, revenue collections, and grant expenditures to support fiscal accountability and budget adherence
• Develops and maintains clear, actionable financial dashboards and reports that visualize current data trends while collaborating with stakeholders to anticipate and support future data requirements.
• Supports the end-to-end management of financial and accounting transactions, including processing, reviewing, reconciling, and maintaining accurate records.
• Assists with data collection, preparation, reconciliation, and billing activities related to ITS products and services; ensure timely and accurate communication with customers.
• Enters general ledger, payment, and billing transactions in accordance with established protocols and timelines.
• Investigates financial inquiries or discrepancies related to purchasing, general ledger activity, payments, and customer billings, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
• Adjusts financial records to reflect approved changes in balances and payments, ensuring updates are properly authorized and documented.
• Assists in the development, preparation, and tracking of the department’s annual operating and capital budgets.
• Manages mobile devices including cell phones and MiFi units by processing invoices, performing some activations and deactivations, following mobile device policies, and providing necessary reporting.
