Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking a Finance Administrator - Chart of Accounts in the Finance Department, Division of Accounts. The role oversees COA design, accuracy, and reporting across government-wide systems, including ADA-compliant financial reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• 3 years of experience in governmental chart of accounts or related field.
• Substitution will not be considered.
• Knowledge of Oracle Cloud financials and/or reporting certifications
• Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and reporting preparations
• Familiarity with ADA/WCAG accessibility standards as they relate to digital and published financial reports
• Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and project management
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, or related system

Responsibilities

• Directs, coordinates, and participates in complex financial accounting activities related to the Chart of Accounts.
• Performs professional duties supporting general ledger–related accounting modules.
• Develops, structures, and maintains the organization’s Chart of Accounts.
• Manages COA updates driven by new business requirements, reorganizations, or regulatory changes.
• Troubleshoots and resolves COA–related errors in Oracle Cloud.
• Assists with ACFR automation and preparation of reports in line with GASB standards.
• Ensures monthly, quarterly, and annual reports meet ADA accessibility standards.
• Creates dashboards, KPIs, and automated reporting tools.
• Coordinates with ITS to publish financial documents on the Metro website.
• Collaborates to establish GAAP-aligned accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversees supervision, development, and performance evaluation of COA staff.
• Oversees updates to ACFR automation processes for accurate reporting.
• Participates in weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly department meetings.
• Assists cross-training within the Finance Department.
• Performs duties requiring detailed knowledge of financial system procedures.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
