Job summary

UES, Inc. seeks a Field Technician II to support engineering, environmental services, materials testing and inspection projects.

You will perform advanced field and laboratory testing, conduct on-site inspections, and help ensure projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong problem-solving, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of field-based experience in materials testing, construction inspection, geotechnical fieldwork, or related.
• ACI Level 1 concrete testing preferred or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Commitment to safety, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
• Proficiency in MS Office and FDC software or similar tools.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical docs.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel up to 70% and work variable schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing on soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction materials.
• Ensure testing requirements are met and compliant with specs and policies.
• Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories maintaining sample integrity.
• Maintain testing equipment per manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Complete detailed reports and documentation; submit to project managers and stakeholders.
• Communicate with dispatch, field supervisors, contractors, and project managers with updates.
• Possibly mentor junior field technicians on procedures, testing methods, and safety.
• Follow OSHA, company, and client safety protocols; PPE usage emphasized.
• Adapt to changing project requirements; occasional early mornings or overnight work.
• Operate and maintain company vehicle; schedule maintenance as needed.
• Travel to job sites within designated region; overnight stays may be required.
