Job summary

Atwell, LLC in Southfield, MI seeks a Senior Field Technician in Field Services to perform engineering field services and assist with design/analysis under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery for clients.

The role includes leading diverse field teams, conducting relay testing, SCADA/PLC work, and field reporting. Requires 3+ years substation testing, NICET/NETA certification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates preferred.
• 3+ years of Substation Testing Experience.
• NETA II / III or NICET II certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
• Professional, articulate, able to exercise good independent judgement.
• Experience leading highly technical projects.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Able to work with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, relay testing, start-up, and commissioning services.
• Lead team of varying skill levels for multiple markets and scopes.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced field staff.
• Attend construction meetings, assist with RFIs, questions, and design updates; assist with scheduling and coordination.
• Prepare field testing, troubleshooting, investigation, and construction progress reports.
• Program, wire, install protective relaying and control systems; SCADA/PLC systems.
• Assist in detailed design of Electric Power Systems including diagrams and schematics.
• Review work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for quality and accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable Codes and Standards; uphold strong client relationships.
