Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking a mid-level SCADA and Automation Engineer in the Oil & Gas group to perform field work, engineering design, and analysis under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. You will design electrical power systems, set and test relays, program SCADA/PLC systems, and prepare project documentation to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

Responsibilities include SCADA and relay testing, IEC61850/DNP3/MODBUS configuration, and field commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
• FE is preferred
• Knowledge of medium and high voltage power systems with strong SCADA knowledge
• Experience with configuring, testing IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, and/or other SCADA protocols
• Experience creating Network Architecture Diagrams
• Experience with Oil & Gas private usage networks (Transmission & Distribution) is a plus
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Previous Interactions with clients, customers, contractors and others
• Ability to travel periodically for weeks across states for field work as needed
• Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of electrical power systems including one-line and three-line diagrams, SCADA, and wiring diagrams.
• Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systems, specifically SEL RTACs.
• Program, installation, and testing of SCADA and PLC systems, primarily SEL RTACs.
• Produce configuration files associated with IEC61850, DNP3, or other SCADA protocols.
• Prepare documents/reports including specifications, RFIs, studies.
• Perform SCADA and relay field testing and commissioning services.
• Provide field assistance and troubleshooting for SCADA systems such as SEL RTAC, Ignition, or PLCs.
• Travel to field sites in Texas and New Mexico as needed.
