Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician I to join the Wilmington team. The role involves field observation, sampling, and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials, with mentoring of junior staff and coordination with project managers.

You will perform testing on moderate projects, maintain equipment, and report site conditions accurately.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related field experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Maintain two advanced certifications applicable to the work.
• General OSHA 10 may be required.
• Valid driver's license if driving for ECS.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to lift up to 85 lbs and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials.
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
• Prepares accurate daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
• Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks.
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials.
• Assists in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution.
• Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures.
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned.
