Job summary

Turner Construction Company seeks a seasoned field superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities in Austin, TX. You will manage project planning, scheduling, safety, cost control and team leadership to deliver on time and within budget.

Reports to the Project Manager or Project Executive. Requires a Bachelor's degree and extensive construction experience, with BIM/Lean proficiency and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 4+ years of related training and 8+ years of building construction experience.
• Thorough knowledge of general and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, construction means, methods and materials.
• Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to use Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean to benefit the project.
• Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with owners, architects and engineers for daily project activities.
• Develop and implement project schedules identifying the critical path and expedite materials.
• Lead Turner field staff and participate in performance appraisals.
• Maintain ethics and compliance with Turner standards.
• Manage site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with safety codes.
• Decide on scheduling, delivery, logistics and staffing related to work.
• Coordinate work among trades and resolve procedures, design clarifications and related issues.
• Manage labour relations with subcontractors and Turner staff.
• Implement mock-ups and associated testing, review and approval.
• Ensure permits and insurance are in place and liaise with inspectors.
• Act as Stormwater Compliance Coordinator (SCC) under Turner program.
• Manage General Conditions/General Requirements to maintain budget.
• Manage billing related to Work-In-Place and monthly estimates.
• Ensure work conforms to contract documents.
