Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) in Reston, VA is seeking a hands-on Superintendent to lead field operations for commercial mechanical construction projects. You will manage crews, coordinate with PMs and subcontractors, and ensure safety and quality from startup to closeout.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of supervision experience in commercial construction, strong knowledge of HVAC/plumbing/mechanical systems, and proven ability to read drawings and manage schedules.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projects.
• Commercial HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical, or MEP experience preferred.
• Proven experience leading field teams and managing day-to-day jobsite operations.
• Strong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, manpower planning, and cost control.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day jobsite operations from project startup through closeout.
• Lead and coordinate field crews, Foremen, subcontractors, equipment, and materials.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, sequencing, and manpower plans.
• Monitor field productivity and ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
• Coordinate work with Project Managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades.
• Participate in project meetings with clients, general contractors, engineers, and project partners.
• Identify field challenges early and develop solutions to keep projects moving.
