Job summary

Smiths Detection, a leader in threat detection technology, seeks a skilled technician to troubleshoot, repair, and test Trace detection equipment and IMS components at our U.S. Depot. You will coordinate repairs, maintain test rigs, and support global service operations, sharing knowledge and improving procedures.

The role requires electrical/ electronics expertise, documentation skills, and the ability to train technicians while ensuring strict quality standards and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in service or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Certification in electronics or related practical experience.
• Strong manual dexterity with small tools and components.
• Experience repairing IMS units, drift tubes, subassemblies, and wiring.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and rework Trace units and IMS components to meet quality and performance standards.
• Coordinate IMS repair activities, including availability, priorities, and verification of repairs.
• Monitor IMS room fixtures, test equipment, and gas levels; identify maintenance needs.
• Provide technical support for IMS repair processes across global operations.
• Develop and improve service procedures with emphasis on quality control testing.
