Job summary

Smiths Detection, a unit of Smiths Group, is seeking an advanced Technical Engineer for depot service support in New Jersey. You will design test fixtures, troubleshoot electronic-mechanical equipment, and document best practices while leading technician training and promoting teamwork.

Occasional travel to new depots may be required. The role emphasizes data-driven quality control, procedure development, and collaboration with management to deliver reliable repairs and improvements across the

Qualifications

• Technical degree or extensive electronics & mechanical experience.
• Strong electronics service experience.
• Excellent manual dexterity with small hand tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Presentation/training skills for team development.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• ISO/Continuous Improvement experience a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reports and summaries.

Responsibilities

• Create test fixtures to ensure full QC of reworked parts.
• Diagnose and resolve electronic-related failures.
• Lead depot technician training efforts.
• Maintain and service fixtures for proper operation.
• Enter data into the Service Management System and track rework cycles.
• Support safety practices and contribute to cost savings or process improvements.
